Every bride dreams of having a family when she gets married. Many times, most couples wait and enjoy their time before venturing into parenthood. For most, starting a family is easy and the path to conceive is not hard. Within a few months or even a year their already expecting parents.
For Michael and Jeanette, this reality was not as simple. They had been married for four years before deciding to start a family. They decided that after a long courtship they wanted to get to know each other as husband and wife. One of the things they enjoyed the most was vacationing. When you have children, vacationing becomes a chore all on its own. Most parents must plan vacations at least a year in advance just to make sure that they can not only afford it but that their child(ren) will also enjoy it.
One of the biggest struggles Jeanette had was that she has a hormonal condition called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. This type of issue can cause infertility in women. The exact cause is unknown. Jeanette had to undergo a series of blood tests, hormonal therapy, and injections. Every time she went to the doctor, she would hear bad news. Jeanette had so many medical issues that the thought of becoming pregnant was unforeseeable.
This couple did not lose their faith in God as they continued to pray and believe that they would one day become parents. Many times, when you are in the eye of the storm and everything around you seems chaotic the bad news that you continue to hear seems like your reality is never going to happen. At some point this couple concluded that they would never be parents. But God….
One day they heard a different report and found out Jeanette was pregnant. They were both in disbelief after just going through only two hormone therapy sessions it was finally happening. They could not control their excitement. After such a long haul of waiting and listening to bad news after bad news, they were finally able to celebrate something good. They went out to dinner to celebrate and even though they were finally at the homestretch the fear was still looming and every precaution was taken. During this time of joy, this couple only shared their good news with one other person because they were not ready to reveal it to the world. Out of fear and simple caution their news was only between them, God and one confidant. Many times, when you share your struggles with another person that has gone through your same or similar issues you come to realize that you are not alone and that your story can help someone else who is going through the same thing. I hope that this story has given someone a boost knowing that God is always in control and that there is simply nothing impossible for him.
